Kuwait Customs records highest number of seizures of 2024, says Al-Qallaf

Director commends customs staff for tightening oversight data audits

Fatima Al-Qallaf, Director General of the General Administration of Customs, has made an announcement saying Kuwait Customs during 2024 has made the highest number of seizures to date.

She was speaking during a field inspection tour on Monday, covering several key departments, including General Audit, Statistics, and Preservation, as part of a broader effort to upgrade administrative and technical systems and enhance overall performance.

Al-Qallaf emphasized the importance of post-clearance audits, verifying customs data, and ensuring compliance with valuation procedures — particularly for low-value or non-compliant goods. These measures aim to safeguard public funds and combat manipulation of customs values.

She praised the staff for their untiring performance and their role in securing record-breaking financial seizures that benefit the state.

Her tour also included a visit to the Statistics and Research Department, which plays a crucial role in analyzing data to inform customs policy, and the Customs Exemption Audit Department, which facilitates 24/7 processing for Kuwaiti companies and factories eligible for tax exemptions.

Additionally, Al-Qallaf reviewed the Customs Brokers Affairs Department, responsible for managing and licensing customs brokers in line with regulatory standards. This field visit is part of a series aimed at strengthening institutional development and operational efficiency within the customs sector.
