Kuwait customs foils smuggling of 323 cigarette cartons hidden in food

Today, the Nuwaiseeb Customs Department foiled an attempt to smuggle around 323 cartons of cigarettes concealed inside food containers.

In a statement, customs officials said two vehicles at the Nuwaiseeb border crossing were stopped for inspection in the departure lane, reports Al-Rai daily.

The vehicles, driven by two brothers, appeared to be carrying large quantities of food. However, a detailed inspection revealed cigarette cartons hidden in food packets.

The brothers and the contraband have been referred to the concerned authority.
