Kuwait Customs foils major drug smuggling attempt

50 kilograms of narcotics seized from shipment coming from an European port

In a significant security achievement, customs officers at the Air Cargo Inspection Control —intercepted a large quantity of narcotic substances concealed in a shipment arriving from an unidentified European country.

According to a statement issued by the General Administration of Customs, vigilant customs officers noticed irregularities, following which officers meticulous inspected the shipment and found approximately 33 kilograms of hashish and 17 kilograms of marijuana. The narcotics were hidden to evade detection, but the proactive efforts of the inspection team thwarted the attempt.

The Al-Qabas daily said, those connected with the shipment have been taken into custody. The suspects and the shipment have been handed over to the relevant security authorities for further investigation and legal procedures.

The customs department said all appropriate protocols were followed during the operation.

This latest interception underscores the critical role played by Kuwait’s customs personnel in protecting the country’s borders from illegal activities and reinforces their ongoing commitment to combating international drug trafficking networks.
