Kuwait Crown Prince meets UN Secretary-General Guterres

His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah KhaledAl-Hamad Al-Sabah, highlighted the importance of cooperation among all Member States to strengthen and develop the UN’s work, enhance its efforts to promote international security and stability, and achieve sustainable development goals.

His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, representing His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, met with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterresduring the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, according to Q8-Press.

At the beginning of the meeting, His Highness conveyed the greetings of His Highness the Amir and reaffirmed Kuwait’s support for the United Nations’ pivotal role across its various organs, agencies, and programs. He also expressed appreciation for the Secretary-General’s efforts in advancing the organization’s work.

During the meeting, His Highness the Crown Prince emphasized Kuwait’s commitment to participating in the Future Summit and all meetings of the 79th session. He highlighted the importance of cooperation among all Member States to strengthen and develop the UN’s work, enhance its efforts to promote international security and stability, and achieve sustainable development goals.

In response, Guterres praised Kuwait’s active and longstanding role in supporting the UN, enhancing its ability to pursue its noble missions, and reaffirmed the need to continue efforts in maintaining international peace and security.

During the meeting, they also discussed the latest developments in the regional and international arenas and the role of the United Nations in laying the foundations of international peace and security and achieving sustainable development.

The meeting was attended by Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya, Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs at the Court of His Highness the Crown Prince, Mazen Al-Issa, Permanent Representative of the State of Kuwait to the United Nations, Ambassador Tariq Mohammed Albanai, and Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for International Organizations, Ambassador Abdulaziz Al-Jarallah.

Additionally, the representative of His Highness the Amir, His Highness the Crown Prince, met with the President of the United Nations General Assembly, Ambassador Philémon Yang, on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

At the beginning of the meeting, His Highness conveyed the greetings of His Highness the Amir and congratulated the President on receiving the confidence of the international community. He wished him success in fulfilling his new responsibilities and reaffirmed Kuwait’s support for his efforts to coordinate among Member States in addressing the many substantive issues raised in the General Assembly meetings.

In response, the President of the General Assembly expressed his deep gratitude and appreciation to the leadership and people of Kuwait for their exceptional contributions and unwavering support to the United Nations and its specialized agencies.

During the meeting, they also discussed the latest developments in regional and international affairs and the role of the United Nations in promoting international peace and security to achieve stability in the Middle East and globally, as well as the implementation of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals for 2030.
