Kuwait Cricket & Cricket Association of Nepal Forge Bilateral Partnership to Boost Men’s & Women’s Cricket

Kuwait Cricket Board and Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) have come to a principal understanding at the recently concluded ICC AGM in Singapore to host each other in an annual bilateral cricket series for both Men’s and Women’s teams starting from 2026. The agreement will see a minimum of three T20 Internationals and additional 50-over matches played in both countries on a home-and-away basis every year. This strategic collaboration is a significant step forward in enhancing international exposure and fostering competitive cricket among Associate nations in the region.

Present in the frame during the discussion were Mr. Chatur Bahadur Chand (President, CAN), Mr. Sajid Ashraf (Director General, Kuwait Cricket), Mr. Paras Khadka (Secretary, CAN), and Mr. Padam Bahadur Khadka (Treasurer, CAN).

This partnership marks a major milestone in the growth and development of cricket across Asia. With Nepal recently showcasing their talent on the world stage at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and Kuwait preparing to participate in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Asia Regional Qualifiers later this year, the timing of this initiative couldn’t be better. It not only strengthens the competitive pathways for emerging players but also reinforces the cultural and cricketing bond between the two nations—especially with a vibrant and passionate Nepali community residing in Kuwait.

Both Nepal and Kuwait are also placed in the same group for the highly anticipated ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Asia Regional Qualifiers, adding further excitement to this growing partnership.

The annual series promises to become a key fixture on the Associate cricket calendar and a platform for mutual development and excellence.
