As part of a comprehensive government effort to prevent project failures and delays, the government has emphasized on the urgent need to tighten oversight of stalled development projects and impose strict legal penalties on non-compliant contractors.
The Cabinet has issued instructions to all relevant authorities to bar any contracting company from participating in future government tenders should it fail to execute the project on time or if the performance, what the Cabinet called, ‘inadequate’ until the issues in the disputed project are fully resolved.
This measure aims to ensure accountability, protect public funds, and reinforce discipline in project implementation.
Informed sources revealed that, under the new directive, ministers are now required to take firm action against companies responsible for delays or non-performance in government projects, each within their respective jurisdictions.
