Kuwait Condemns Iranian Attacks, Reserves Right to Defend Sovereignty

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned what it described as a serious act of aggression by the Islamic Republic of Iran, along with Iran-backed factions and militias operating in Iraq, following attacks that targeted Kuwaiti territory and strategic energy infrastructure.

In a statement issued on Monday, the ministry said the attacks struck several border security posts and an offshore drilling platform operated by Kuwait Oil Company, resulting in casualties and causing material damage.

The ministry described the attacks as a flagrant violation of Kuwait’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, warning that the continued hostile actions by Iran and its allied groups pose a grave threat to the safety and security of both Kuwaiti citizens and residents.

Kuwait further stated that the attacks undermine regional stability and constitute a direct threat to international peace and security. The ministry added that the actions also violate United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026) and jeopardize ongoing regional and international efforts aimed at promoting peace, security, and stability across the Gulf and the wider Middle East.

Reaffirming Kuwait’s commitment to protecting its national interests, the ministry said the State of Kuwait reserves the right to take all measures it considers necessary to defend its sovereignty, safeguard its security, and maintain national stability, in full accordance with international law and the Charter of the United Nations.

The statement underscores Kuwait’s firm stance against any violation of its territorial integrity and reflects the country’s determination to respond appropriately to threats against its security while continuing to support regional peace and stability.
