Kuwait Coast Guard, US Navy engage in joint drill to strengthen maritime security

In a move to strengthen security cooperation and coordination, the Directorate-General of Coast Guard, announced a joint initiative with the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense and the United States Army and Navy.

As part of this initiative, Brigadier General Sheikh Mubarak Ali Yousef Al-Sabah, Director General of the Coast Guard, led a delegation of department directors on a field visit to Shuwaikh Port, reports Al-Rai daily.

During the visit, they inspected the US Navy vessel “USS CANBERRA” in an effort to exchange expertise and enhance bilateral cooperation in the maritime domain.

In conjunction with the visit, the Directorate General of Coast Guard organized a joint naval exercise with the US Navy. The drill included participation from units of the Police Aviation Wing, and representatives from the Kuwaiti Naval Force under the Ministry of Defense.

The training operation featured a Coast Guard boat, a newly launched naval drone and two helicopters — Caracal and Dolphin — from the Police Aviation Wing.

The main objectives of the exercise were to enhance field readiness, improve joint tactical coordination, develop naval and air operational capabilities and support maritime security efforts in Kuwaiti territorial waters.

The Ministry emphasized that such exercises are key to maintaining a high level of preparedness and safeguarding the country’s coastal borders.
