Kuwait-China forge new cooperation deals on ports and maritime safety

Brigadier General Sheikh Mubarak Ali Yousef Al-Sabah, Director-General of the Kuwaiti Coast Guard, welcomed the Chinese Deputy Minister of Transport Fu Xiuyin and his delegation at the Sabah Al-Ahmad Coast Guard Base as part of ongoing efforts to enhance cooperation between Kuwait and China.

During the visit, according to Al-Rai daily, the two sides signed a cooperation agreement focused on ports and commercial maritime navigation, along with a memorandum of understanding (MoU) concerning the mutual recognition of seafarers’ certificates.

These agreements are aimed at improving joint maritime operations and solidifying the strategic partnership between the two nations in this critical sector.

The discussions also covered various aspects of strengthening maritime security and safety, reinforcing bilateral cooperation in the maritime field, and exploring new coordination mechanisms to ensure mutual interests are achieved.

Also present were the Chinese Ambassador to Kuwait HE Zhang Jianwei and the senior officials from the General Administration of Coast Guard.
