Kuwait, China deepen military ties with joint projects and strategic cooperation

Kuwaiti-Chinese relations are witnessing a notable expansion in military cooperation, according to Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Mishal Al-Sabah.

Speaking at a ceremony hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Kuwait marking the 98th anniversary of the People’s Liberation Army, Sheikh Abdullah affirmed that the Defense Ministry is pursuing several joint projects with China — most prominently the upcoming inauguration of a medium and light ammunition factory.

He highlighted the strength of strategic cooperation between the two nations across defense, infrastructure, and housing sectors, pointing to major initiatives such as Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port. He also noted growing joint training programs with China, which continue to expand each year, reports Al-Jarida daily.

Sheikh Abdullah emphasized Kuwait’s commitment to building strong defense ties with Gulf and Arab allies, while also nurturing balanced partnerships with Eastern and Western powers.

Chinese Chargé d’Affaires Liu Xiang reaffirmed China’s commitment to peaceful development and multilateralism, introducing Brigadier General Liu Zongzhen as the new Chinese military attaché to Kuwait, who will focus on enhancing bilateral military relations.
