Kuwait champions credibility and innovation at Arab Media Summit 2025

Representing His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah, Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi affirmed that the Arab Media Summit has become a pioneering platform that boosts Arab media content, fosters regional cooperation, and strengthens Arab media’s global presence.

Speaking during a dialogue session on the summit’s second day in Dubai, Al-Mutairi thanked UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed and Vice President and Dubai Ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid for their generous patronage of the summit. He also expressed pride in participating in the forum, which addresses media challenges and opportunities while offering a valuable exchange of expertise, reports Al-Rai daily.

Al-Mutairi stressed that AI presents a unique opportunity to modernize media operations, analyze data efficiently, and tailor content to audiences. He highlighted Kuwait’s 2021–2026 strategy to develop digital infrastructure and invest in AI, notably through Platform 51, which provides 22 million viewing hours and archives over 200,000 hours of TV content.

He announced progress on an Institutional Memory Project to use data-driven insights for future projects. Al-Mutairi also stressed the need for rapid and verified news dissemination, given that many Arabs rely on social media for news. This demands better credibility, transparency, and AI-driven verification tools to combat misinformation.

The Ministry has taken steps to enhance the legislative and regulatory environment for digital media, including updated regulations, content guidelines, and training in verification techniques.

Arab media, he said, has evolved from merely reporting news to producing interactive, analytical, and artistic content aligned with global standards and societal aspirations. Participation in the 2025 Summit signals a transformative shift driven by technology and innovation.

Al-Mutairi emphasized the strategic importance of Gulf and Arab media partnerships in competing with international platforms and influencing narratives on a global scale.

He noted that Arab media institutions, both public and private, have adopted digital strategies over the past five years. This has established a strong foundation for digital transformation, essential in a fast-evolving media consumption landscape.

The Arab Media Summit 2025 concludes tomorrow in Dubai, with participation from around 8,000 media professionals, officials, and content creators. Al-Mutairi joined several Arab ministers and media leaders in the dialogue session, accompanied by Kuwait’s Ambassador to the UAE Jamal Al-Ghunaim and Kuwaiti Consul General in Dubai Khaled Al-Zaabi.
