Kuwait Cabinet showcases national identity ahead of Expo Osaka 2025

Government declares February 7, 2026, as Kuwait Sports Day; Cabinet reviews Juvenile Care Complex and social services development plans Reviewed by Cabinet; Municipality launches “139” complaints app to boost transparency and digital transformation

The Council of Ministers held its weekly meeting today at the Bayan Palace, chaired by His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister.

At the forefront of discussions, the Cabinet reviewed preparations for Kuwait’s participation in Expo Osaka 2025 in Japan, under the theme “Beacon of the Future.”

Minister of Information, Culture, and State Minister for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Badah Al-Mutairi explained that the pavilion will showcase Kuwait’s role in supporting arts, culture, education, and innovation, while highlighting the country’s historical roots and its encouragement of youth entrepreneurship.

The Council praised the efforts of the Ministry of Information and all those involved in presenting Kuwait’s civilizational identity to the world.

The Cabinet also approved the proposal to designate February 7, 2026, as Kuwait Sports Day, aiming for nationwide participation across all age groups to promote health, wellness, and social engagement.

In social development, the Council reviewed a presentation by the Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs Dr. Amthal Hadi Al-Huwailah on the achievements of the Juvenile Care Department and future plans, including the opening of the new Juvenile Care Complex. The initiatives focus on rehabilitation programs, human rights protection, and training of national cadres in line with international standards.

Further, the Cabinet examined the visual presentation by Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Housing Affairs Abdullatif Hamed Al-Mishari on the launch of the “Kuwait Municipality Complaints Application – 139”, which will be available starting September 1.

The app aims to streamline complaint submissions electronically, enhance transparency, and improve service quality for citizens and residents as part of accelerating digital transformation.

The Cabinet concluded by approving several items on its agenda and referring others to the relevant ministerial committees for follow-up and implementation.
