  • Omar Al-Omar, the Minister of Commerce and Industry, emphasized the ministry’s dedication to developing its inspection system to ensure market stability and consumer protection.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry in Kuwait has conducted the largest raid in its history, seizing a massive haul of fake items. Over 623,000 counterfeit goods were discovered in a basement in Farwaniya.

These items, imitations of famous global brands, were reportedly being sold through social media auctions.

The ministry’s commercial control and inspection teams were responsible for the raid. The seized items, valued at over ten million Kuwaiti dinars, included a variety of goods such as accessories, bags, clothes, and shoes.

The ministry’s statement explained that commercial control teams became suspicious of the sale of these products through social media accounts. These accounts organized auctions or offered the products at prices significantly lower than the announced prices in the branches of the global brands themselves.

Upon detecting these suspicious activities, the commercial control teams took action. They monitored and followed up on the source of the goods, ultimately identifying the source that was selling these counterfeit products to distributors in large quantities.

Omar Al-Omar, the Minister of Commerce and Industry, praised the efforts of the inspection teams and their commitment to protecting the Kuwaiti market.

He emphasized the ministry’s dedication to developing its inspection system to ensure market stability and consumer protection. Al-Omar also thanked the ministry’s national cadres for their vigilance in combating commercial violations and fraud.
