Kuwait braces for unstable weather; showers, thunder, and shifting winds ahead

Heavy rain possible Wednesday night as low-pressure system deepens; rain, thunderstorms, and fog expected until Thursday: Meteorology

The Meteorological Department forecast on Tuesday that the country will continue to witness rainfall of varying intensity, at times accompanied by thunderstorms, until Thursday, along with chances of evening and early-morning fog in several areas.

Acting Director of the Department, Dharar Al-Ali, told KUNA that weather maps, numerical models, and satellite imagery indicate that Kuwait will remain under the influence of a deep low-pressure system extending into the upper layers of the atmosphere until the end of Thursday.

This system is expected to increase low and medium cloud cover, with cumulonimbus formations bringing scattered showers ranging from light to moderate, and occasionally thundery.

Al-Ali noted that rainfall may become heavy in some regions from late Wednesday night through Thursday evening, occurring intermittently.

He added that horizontal visibility could drop significantly during rainfall, with continued chances of fog forming in the morning and evening.

He explained that winds will generally be southeasterly to variable in direction, light to moderate in speed, becoming active at times before shifting to northwesterly to northerly after Wednesday afternoon.

Al-Ali urged citizens and residents to stay updated by following weather forecasts through the department’s official website, application, and social media platforms to monitor the latest developments.
