Kuwait braces for unstable weather — rain, thunderstorms, and dusty winds through the weekend

Meteorological Department warns of rough seas; cool temperatures, and strong winds expected across Kuwait

Kuwait is set to experience unstable weather conditions over the coming days, with the Meteorological Department forecasting chances of rainfall starting Thursday and intensifying through the weekend.

Acting Director of the Meteorological Department Dharar Al-Ali said weather patterns show the country will be affected by a gradually deepening surface low-pressure system, coinciding with a strong cold upper-air trough.

This system is expected to increase cloud cover, including low, medium, and cumulonimbus clouds, bringing scattered light rain on Thursday, moderate rainfall on Friday, and occasional thunderstorms by Saturday evening and Sunday.

He noted that rainfall chances will begin to decline from Sunday afternoon, while southeasterly winds will remain light to moderate, becoming stronger on Saturday and causing sea waves to exceed six feet, reports Al-Rai daily.

According to Al-Ali, early Sunday will mark a shift to more unstable conditions, with winds turning northwesterly and becoming strong to very strong at times. These winds are expected to raise dust, reduce visibility, and increase sea waves to over seven feet.

Temperatures during the period are expected to remain relatively cool, with daytime highs ranging between 15 and 21 degrees Celsius and nighttime lows dropping to between 5 and 11 degrees Celsius.
