Kuwait braces for hot and humid weekend with highs reaching 47°C

Kuwait is set to experience a very hot and increasingly humid weekend, with temperatures expected to climb as high as 47 degrees Celsius, as the country comes under the influence of an extension of the Indian monsoon low-pressure system, the Meteorological Department said.
Acting Director of the Meteorological Department, Dharar Al-Ali, said weather forecasts and numerical models indicate that the monsoon system will bring a hot, moisture-laden air mass accompanied by shifting winds that will gradually turn southeasterly.
The changing weather pattern is expected to raise humidity levels, particularly in coastal areas, while bringing occasional cloud cover and a slight easing of daytime temperatures.
On Thursday, conditions will remain very hot and relatively humid, especially along the coast, with light to moderate northeasterly and variable winds of 8 to 30 km/h. Daytime temperatures are forecast to range between 45°C and 47°C, while the sea will remain light to moderate with waves of 1 to 4 feet.
Thursday night will stay hot to warm and humid, with light variable winds and minimum temperatures between 30°C and 32°C.
The humid conditions will continue into Friday, when southeasterly winds and scattered high clouds are expected. Maximum temperatures will range between 44°C and 46°C, while Friday night will remain warm and humid, with lows between 32°C and 34°C.
The hottest conditions are expected on Saturday, when temperatures are forecast to once again reach 45°C to 47°C. Southeasterly to variable winds may become active at times, reaching 40 km/h, with humidity remaining high, particularly in coastal districts.
Al-Ali urged the public to take precautions against heat stress, particularly during peak daytime hours, as the combination of high temperatures and humidity can significantly increase discomfort and the risk of heat-related illnesses.
The Meteorological Department also advised beachgoers and seafarers that sea conditions will generally remain light to moderate throughout the weekend, although wave heights may reach five feet at times on Saturday.
