Kuwait bolsters defenses, rallies Gulf support following fresh Iranian attack claims

Kuwait has reinforced both its military preparedness and diplomatic engagement following what it describes as renewed Iranian aggression, with the Armed Forces reporting the interception of hostile drones and Gulf nations expressing support for the country’s sovereignty and security.

The Kuwaiti Army announced that its air defense systems intercepted hostile drones early Wednesday, describing the operation as part of ongoing efforts to protect the country’s airspace following recent attacks.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated its condemnation of the alleged Iranian actions, stating that the continued attacks constitute a violation of Kuwait’s sovereignty, endanger the safety of citizens and residents, and undermine regional and international efforts to promote security and stability. The ministry also said the actions contravene international law and UN Security Council Resolution 2817/2026.

As part of Kuwait’s diplomatic outreach, Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah held telephone discussions with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Bahraini Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif Al-Zayani, and Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi.

According to the Foreign Ministry, the officials reviewed regional developments, condemned the recent attacks targeting Kuwait, and affirmed the right of states subjected to aggression to take the necessary measures to safeguard their sovereignty and national security.

Meanwhile, Defense Minister Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah visited several naval force installations to review operational readiness and combat preparedness. During the tour, he also met with naval personnel injured in the recent attacks and wished them a speedy recovery.

Regional condemnation of the reported attacks continued, with GCC Secretary-General Jassim Al-Budaiwi describing the alleged Iranian actions as a serious escalation and a violation of international norms. He warned that such developments risk increasing instability across the region.

Gulf officials also called on the international community to take effective measures to prevent further escalation, halt repeated attacks, and hold those responsible accountable in order to preserve regional peace, security, and stability.
