Kuwait Bilingual School launches human rights awareness campaign

The ‘KBS TALK’ initiative unexpectedly touched the hearts and minds of students and parents alike, leaving a lasting impact that resonated well beyond the classroom, touching the Jahra community.

The KBS TALK campaign celebrated the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, with students honoring its history and spreading hope through song.

“We turn away from God’s call for peace, freedom, and prosperity for all—a call to compassion and understanding that has echoed through generations. Now, more than ever, we must answer it. We must rise above division and hatred and honor the sacred bond that unites us all as human beings, said Mohammad H. This powerful message was shared by a senior at Kuwait Bilingual School (KBS), which launched a human rights awareness campaign on November 26.

The campaign, called KBS TALK, was an inspiring initiative spearheaded by the Head of the Humanities Department, Ms. Pupjana Kole, with the steadfast support of High School Principal Dr. Kalvin Jordan. It became a heartfelt, collaborative effort, uniting students as “children of today” with seniors as “leaders of tomorrow.”

The campaign unexpectedly touched the hearts and minds of students and parents alike, leaving a lasting impact that resonated well beyond the classroom, touching the Jahracommunity.

“KBS TALK” took us on a powerful journey through the history of human rights, celebrating their origins and evolution. Marking the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the “Children of Today” proudly carried signs representing each of the 30 rights, their voices rising in unison as they sang songs to spread awareness and inspire hope.

Following this moving display, the “Leaders of Tomorrow,” our seniors, solemnly entered, mourning the nations where human rights have faltered. Their presence was a poignant reminder of the ongoing fight for justice and dignity worldwide. “It is heartbreaking to see the centuries of bloodshed and sacrifice that humanity has endured, only to find ourselves still falling short of our true mission. We are meant to care for one another, to protect each other’s dignity, and to stand together in respect. Yet, instead of embracing this shared duty, we continue to harm each other, ignoring the values and rights that every person deserves,” said Satam A.

Education plays a vital role in fostering a clear and steadfast understanding of what is right and wrong. At KBS, we are dedicated to ensuring that the harsh realities of the world do not diminish our students’ optimism for the future or their commitment to serving humanity. Instead, we empower them to face challenges with resilience and hope, inspiring them to make a positive impact.

“What is happening in Palestine is a tragedy that will echo through generations. The heartbreaking scenes of devastation and loss—the unspeakable violence and suffering—will never be forgotten. At KBS, our hearts are with the mothers, children, and families who have endured unimaginable pain and loss, standing strong against an inhumane occupation,” said Meshari DH.

Now more than ever, our students understand that human rights are not just words written on paper—they are living values that every generation must strive to protect and preserve.

“We stand in solidarity with their courage, resilience, and unwavering spirit. We pray that one day soon, their sacrifices will lay the foundation for a free and just Palestine—a place of hope, dignity, and peace for all who call it home,” added Hassan.

As the Kuwaiti flag waved proudly on stage, students took a heartfelt pledge: “As leaders of tomorrow, we stand here today not only embracing responsibility but honoring our duty to serve as ambassadors of human rights and peace. This is not just our journey—it is our calling. When we step beyond these walls, let us carry forward a legacy of courage and compassion, of standing firm for what is right. To the children of today: take up this mission. Walk the path we tread now, not as followers, but as future leaders who will keep this flame alive. This is our moment, our mission, and our promise to the generations yet to come. Let us not simply dream of change—let us become the change, said Ghanem J.

Regret is a powerful teacher, whispering of missed opportunities—moments when humanity could have chosen compassion over conflict, unity over division. Yet within these reflections lies the seed of transformation. Today’s youth, burdened with the sorrow of yesterday, also carry the torch of hope for tomorrow, said KBS Business Manager, Mr. Mohamed Eraki.
