Kuwait, Bahrain sign health cooperation memo to enhance regional health security

The ministries of Health of Kuwait and Bahrain have signed a memorandum of cooperation to strengthen joint efforts in healthcare development, medical training, and the exchange of expertise between the two Gulf states.

In a press statement following the signing, Dr. Hisham Kalander, Assistant Undersecretary for External Health Services at the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health, affirmed that the agreement “embodies the distinguished fraternal relations between the two sister countries” and represents “a strategic partnership that contributes to improving the quality of health services and raising the standard of care provided to citizens,” reports Al-Rai daily.

He emphasized that the memorandum aligns with sustainable development goals and supports the enhancement of regional health security.

Dr. Kalander added that the agreement “opens broad horizons for future cooperation,” including training, medical research, technical program development, and the exchange of medical expertise.

The memorandum also seeks to build human capacity, promote universal health coverage, and strengthen joint programs to confront global health challenges, especially those related to chronic diseases, epidemics, and health emergencies.
