Kuwait Arrests Two Suspects for Illegal Hunting in Sabah Al-Ahmad Nature Reserve
Suspects accused of entering protected reserve without vehicle licence plates; hunting equipment and vehicle impounded

Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior has arrested two suspects for allegedly entering the Sabah Al-Ahmad Nature Reserve to hunt illegally, in violation of environmental protection laws.
According to the Ministry of Interior, specialised security authorities, working in coordination with the General Administration of Rescue Police and the General Administration for Criminal Investigations, apprehended the suspects after receiving information from the reserve’s security personnel.
Investigations revealed that the suspects had entered the protected area in a vehicle without licence plates. Following search and surveillance operations, authorities located the suspects and confirmed that the vehicle’s licence plates had been removed before they were handed over to the competent authorities.
The suspects were referred to the relevant authorities for legal action. Hunting equipment and the vehicle used in the incident were seized as part of the required legal procedures.
Strict Penalties for Environmental Violations
Article 150 of Kuwait’s Environmental Protection Law stipulates that anyone who enters natural reserves or engages in prohibited activities there may face imprisonment for up to one year and a fine ranging from KD 5,000 to KD 10,000, or either of these penalties, subject to the applicable legal provisions.
Article 105 also provides for the confiscation of hunting equipment and the vehicle used in committing the violation.
The Ministry of Interior warned that entering natural reserves or prohibited areas without official authorisation is strictly forbidden. It stressed that such violations will not go unpunished and that security authorities will continue to monitor these areas and take the necessary legal measures against offenders.
