Kuwait and Sudan discuss ways to boost cooperation in food security and livestock

The Acting Director General of the Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources, Engineer Salem Al-Hai, held discussions with the Sudanese Minister of Livestock and Fisheries, Ahmed Al-Tijani, on ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the fields of food security, agriculture, and livestock development.

In a statement, the Authority said the meeting was attended by Drar Al-Mustafa, Head of the Regional Office of the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) in the Arabian Peninsula, and the Ambassador of Sudan to Kuwait, H.E. Awad Karim Balla. The talks focused on coordinating efforts to expand collaboration between the two countries in agricultural and livestock sectors.

During the meeting, both sides commended the AOAD — headquartered in Sudan — for its efforts in fostering cooperation among Arab nations and supporting investment and trade, particularly in livestock.

Al-Hai affirmed the strong fraternal relations between Kuwait and Sudan, emphasizing Kuwait’s commitment to expanding cooperation and exchanging expertise with Arab countries in agriculture and animal resources. He also praised the role of AOAD’s regional office in Kuwait in promoting partnership and regional integration.

For his part, Minister Al-Tijani highlighted Sudan’s promising investment opportunities in the livestock sector, highlighting his country’s vast agricultural and animal wealth, which can serve the mutual interests of both nations. He also underscored the ongoing joint efforts to enhance cooperation in agricultural and animal production.

Meanwhile, Al-Mustafa lauded the positive partnership between AOAD and Kuwait’s Agricultural Authority in areas such as greening initiatives, combating animal diseases, and developing fisheries. He revealed that the organization is working to strengthen its cooperation framework with Kuwait, aiming to position the country as a regional hub for livestock and feed trade and the production of veterinary vaccines.

The Arab Organization for Agricultural Development seeks to promote collaboration among Arab countries across various agricultural sectors, enhance the sustainable use of natural and human resources, and boost agricultural and fish productivity. Its objectives also include advancing food security, increasing agricultural self-sufficiency, and improving the livelihoods of workers in agriculture and fisheries.
