Kuwait and Saudi Arabia announce new oil find in North Wafra Field

The governments of the State of Kuwait and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced a significant new oil discovery in the jointly operated North Wafra (Wara-Burgan) field, located approximately five kilometers north of the original Wafra field.
In a statement, Kuwait’s Ministry of Oil confirmed that oil has been flowing from the Wara reservoir in the “North Wafra” well (Wara Burgan-1) at a rate exceeding 500 barrels per day, with a specific gravity between 26 and 27 degrees API, according to Al-Rai daily.
The Ministry emphasized that this marks the first discovery since the resumption of production activities in the Divided Zone and its adjacent offshore areas in mid-2020.
Describing the find as strategically important, the Ministry highlighted its positive implications for both countries. The discovery reinforces Kuwait and Saudi Arabia’s positions as reliable energy suppliers and showcases their ongoing capabilities in oil exploration and production.
