Kuwait and China step up cooperation; PM reviews progress on major development projects

Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah chairs meeting to accelerate implementation of Kuwait-China MoU from ports to renewable energy

His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah chaired a meeting of the ministerial committee at Bayan Palace today to review the progress of agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) signed between the governments of Kuwait and China.

The 23rd meeting focused on the latest outcomes of major development projects, including Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project; electrical power systems and renewable energy initiatives; low-carbon green systems for waste recycling; and housing development programs.

This is in addition to the environmental infrastructure and wastewater treatment; free zones and economic zones development and solutions for desertification and environmental cooperation.

His Highness the Prime Minister instructed the committee members to coordinate with Chinese state-owned companies to implement the national plan, expand investments, and accelerate completion of the project. He praised the committee’s efforts under the guidance of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

Ambassador Samih Jawhar Hayat, Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs and rapporteur of the committee, noted that the meeting is part of periodic follow-ups on implementation of the MoU.

He also reviewed outcomes from visits by four Chinese delegations to Kuwait in August, highlighting the shared commitment to strengthen bilateral cooperation across all sectors.
