Kuwait advances efforts to attract foreign investment
. . . and strengthen business environment

Prime Minister His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Al-Abdullah reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fulfilling the vision of His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, by accelerating efforts to attract foreign investment and enhance the business climate in line with Kuwait’s development goals to become a regional and global financial and commercial hub.

Speaking during the 10th anniversary celebration of the GE Vernova Technology Center in Kuwait, held under his patronage, His Highness emphasized the importance of the partnership between the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA) and the GE Vernova Center, reports Al-Rai daily.

He noted that the center’s advanced control systems and operational capabilities significantly support Kuwait’s national energy grid, while its training and development programs contribute to preparing the next generation of national leaders in modern energy technologies.

During his tour of the facility — the first GE Vernova regional center outside the United States — His Highness was briefed on research and development activities in power generation, control systems, experimental laboratories, and innovative maintenance solutions.

Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Minister of Finance, and Acting Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment, Dr. Subaih Al-Mukhaizeem, highlighted in his speech Kuwait’s long-term development priorities, as outlined in the National Development Plan, with special focus on strengthening cooperation between academic institutions, research centers, and the industrial sector.

He described the GE Vernova Technology Center as a strong model of such collaboration, particularly as the center marks ten years of impactful presence in Kuwait.
Joseph Anis, Vice President of GE Vernova and CEO for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, outlined the center’s achievements, partnerships with government entities, and its forward-looking vision.
The event was attended by Minister of Commerce and Industry Khalifa Al-Ajil, KDIPA Director General Sheikh Dr. Meshaal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, and other senior state officials.
