KPC awards contracts for 24 drilling rigs worth 294.7 million dinars

The Higher Procurement Committee of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) and its subsidiaries has approved the awarding of tenders for the supply of 24 drilling rigs to support the operations of Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), with a total value of 294.67 million dinars.

According to informed sources, the contracts were awarded under a strategy that distributes the 24 rigs across separate tenders, with each rig awarded under an individual contract to bidders that met both technical and commercial requirements, reports Al-Anba daily.

The policy also limits the maximum number of rigs awarded to a single bidder to five.

The approved awards are as follows:

Sinopec (China): One rig from the first package, three rigs from the second package, and one rig from the fourth package, at a total cost of 62.27 million dinars.

Burgan Drilling Company: Five rigs from the second package, valued at 59.76 million dinars.

Sun Drilling Company: Three rigs from the second package, one rig from the fifth package, and one rig from the sixth package, with a total value of 62.14 million dinars.

Kuwait Drilling Company: One rig from Group Two and two rigs from Group Six, at a cost of 33.29 million dinars.

Mohammed Al-Barwani Oil Services Company: Three rigs from Group Six, valued at 39.15 million dinars.

Energy Middle East Drilling and Well Maintenance Company: Two rigs from Group Two, worth 24.71 million dinars.

Egyptian Drilling Company: One rig, at a cost of 13.31 million dinars.

The new drilling rigs are expected to enhance KOC’s operational capacity and support ongoing and future exploration and production activities, in line with Kuwait’s strategy to maintain and increase oil production efficiency.
