KOC to oversee restoration of historic Ahmadi Market, cinema

The Council of Ministers has given the nod for the Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) to oversee the restoration project of the historic Ahmadi Market and Ahmadi Cinema, reflecting a national commitment to preserve Kuwait’s cultural landmarks and enhancing its identity.
KOC described the initiative as a collaborative effort between the Ahmadi Governorate, the KOC, and the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL).
The project aims to revive one of Ahmadi Governorate’s most iconic heritage sites through a restoration plan that retains the location’s original architectural character, while transforming it into a vibrant center for cultural and community engagement.
The restoration aligns with the broader objectives of the “New Kuwait” Vision, which prioritizes investment in national heritage and the promotion of cultural development across the country.
