KNPC takes over LNG cylinder plants in Shuaiba and Umm Al-Aish from KOTC

The Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) officially announced on Friday that it has assumed full ownership and operational control of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) cylinder filling plants in Shuaiba and Umm Al-Aish. The facilities were previously operated by the Kuwait Oil Tanker Company (KOTC).
KNPC CEO Wadha Al-Khatib confirmed that this transfer is part of the broader oil sector restructuring initiative being implemented under the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC). She described the move as a strategic step that strengthens cooperation and integration between the country’s major oil companies, reports Al-Rai daily.
Al-Khatib explained that the handover includes not just the physical assets, but also the full workforce and ongoing operations—including the local marketing and distribution of liquefied gas. KNPC now assumes full management responsibility for both sites.
She noted that the process of transferring employment contracts for plant staff has already begun and will be finalized in the coming days. All employees, she said, will be treated with the same level of care and inclusion as existing KNPC personnel, ensuring a unified team spirit and shared commitment to excellence.
Al-Khatib praised KOTC for its cooperative approach and efforts to facilitate a smooth transition, highlighting the company’s dedication to overcoming logistical and administrative hurdles in support of the sector’s long-term goals.
This milestone, she emphasized, will allow KNPC to broaden the scope of its operations and aligns with Kuwait’s ongoing efforts to streamline its energy sector—particularly with the expected integration of the Kuwait Integrated Petroleum Industries Company (KIPIC), which is progressing according to a structured plan and timeline.
