KLA vows zero tolerance for violations of legal ethics and professional conduct

Adnan Abul, Chairman of the Kuwait Lawyers Association, has affirmed the association’s unwavering commitment to upholding the integrity of the legal profession, stressing that no favoritism will be tolerated when it comes to protecting its reputation and ethical standards.

The Al-Rai daily quoting Abul said, the KLA will not hesitate to hold accountable any lawyer proven to have committed professional misconduct or violated the Law Regulating the Legal Profession and its code of honor.

Abul has praised the majority of members for their dedication and excellence, while emphasizing equal firmness in pursuing disciplinary action where necessary.

He revealed that the association had already initiated a disciplinary case more than seven months ago when a lawyer was convicted for failing to meet the registration criteria. The case, which seeks to cancel the lawyer’s registration, is currently under review by the Lawyers’ Disciplinary Department at the Court of First Instance. Additional cases involving professional violations and criminal judgments are also pending.

Abul noted that the Admissions Committee regularly reviews registrations, taking swift action in accordance with legal procedures and attaching all relevant final rulings that may compromise honor and integrity.

He further expressed appreciation for the support and ongoing coordination with the Ministry of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs, led by Minister Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah, to ensure the legal profession continues to meet the highest institutional and ethical standards.
