KFF issues advisory for motorists on how to prevent summer car fires

Drivers advised told not to leave flammable items such as lighters or aerosols inside the vehicle; recommends not driving at high speeds in extreme heat

The Kuwait Fire Force has issued a public advisory urging all citizens and residents to perform regular maintenance on their car engines and electrical systems to reduce the risk of vehicle fires during the intense summer heat.

The warning came as part of an awareness brochure published on the X platform, highlighting several common causes of car fires and offering preventative tips, reports Al-Anba daily.

A KFF source emphasized that damaged or worn-out electrical wires are a leading cause of fires, as they can produce sparks that ignite flammable materials. Similarly, engine overheating and fuel leaks are significant hazards, especially during Kuwait’s scorching summer months.

The source noted fuel leaks from tanks or hoses are highly dangerous, as fuel is extremely flammable; old or cracked hoses and pumps should be replaced immediately; electrical systems should be routinely inspected for faults and the tire pressure must match the specifications listed in the vehicle’s manual to prevent overheating.

Drivers are also warned against leaving flammable items such as lighters or aerosols inside the vehicle and driving at high speeds in extreme heat, which can increase engine and tire temperatures and the likelihood of fire.

The KFF concluded by encouraging all motorists to prioritize vehicle safety and follow manufacturer recommendations during the summer season.
