KFF clamps down in Shuwaikh; 44 buildings warned, violators face closure
Personnel from the Kuwait Fire Force launched a sweeping inspection campaign across the Shuwaikh Industrial Area, resulting in administrative closures and formal warnings issued to 44 buildings found in violation of fire safety regulations.
The operation targeted industrial, commercial and storage facilities, focusing on compliance with approved safety standards, emergency exits, alarm systems, firefighting equipment, and overall risk preparedness.
According to officials, the action was taken after inspectors identified serious shortcomings in fire prevention measures, posing potential threats to workers, property and surrounding facilities. Violations included the absence of functional fire alarms, blocked emergency exits, inadequate firefighting equipment, and unsafe storage practices, according to reports.
Authorities stressed that the closures are administrative and preventive in nature, aimed at compelling owners and operators to immediately rectify violations before resuming activity. The 44 warned buildings have been given a specified period to correct deficiencies or face further legal action.
The Fire Force reaffirmed that inspection campaigns will continue across industrial zones, commercial areas and high-risk sites, warning that there will be zero tolerance for negligence where public safety is concerned.
Officials also urged business owners and facility managers to proactively review their safety systems, conduct regular maintenance, and ensure staff are trained in emergency procedures to avoid penalties and protect lives.
The campaign forms part of a broader national drive to raise safety standards, reduce fire incidents and strengthen regulatory compliance across Kuwait’s industrial and commercial sectors.
