The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) is participating in the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs), currently underway in Avaza, Turkmenistan, from August 5 to 8, 2025.
The conference is organized by the UN Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries, and Small Island Developing States (UN-OHRLLS).
Representing the Fund at the event are Eng. Thamer Al-Failakawi, Director of Operations, and Dr. Nasser Al-Rifai, Advisor. Their participation underscores the Fund’s enduring commitment to supporting landlocked developing nations in their pursuit of sustainable and inclusive economic development, reports news agencies.
The conference gathers senior government officials, international development agencies, and private sector stakeholders to discuss innovative approaches to overcoming geographic and logistical barriers that impede growth in LLDCs.
Key agenda items include enhancing trade and transport connectivity; developing regional and cross-border infrastructure; promoting regional integration and strengthening international cooperation and political support.
In a statement during the conference, Eng. Al-Failakawi emphasized that “Through its active engagement in this global platform, the Kuwait Fund reaffirms its steadfast support for international cooperation and its determination to assist countries facing unique development challenges.”
The Fund views its participation as an opportunity to foster constructive dialogue, exchange knowledge, and emphasize the critical importance of infrastructure, regional integration, and access to global markets.
These elements are vital in helping landlocked nations break through development bottlenecks and build resilient economies.
This approach, the Fund stresses, reflects its belief that comprehensive development is a shared global responsibility, and that standing in solidarity with the world’s most disadvantaged nations is essential to creating a more equitable and stable world.
