5 conditions for transferring government contract workers
First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahd Al-Youssef issued a decision amending the conditions for the transfer of workers from one employer to another, and allowing the transfer of workers brought in on government contracts and projects and cooperative societies outside the sector according to specific controls, Arabic daily Al Rai reported.
The decision allowed the transfer of workers brought in with work permits to the government contracts and projects sector to work outside this sector according to five conditions, including: the end of the government contract or project, as well as providing the Public Authority for Manpower with a letter issued by the government entity that owns the contract or project stating its end and the lack of need for workers, in addition to a year having passed since the worker was brought in on government contracts.
The controls also included the approval of the employer with whom the worker is registered, in addition to collecting an additional fee of 350 dinars. The decision will be effective as of 11/3/2024, and anything that contradicts its provisions will be cancelled. It will be published in the Official Gazette, and the competent authorities must be aware of and implement what is stated therein.
