Kazakhstan appoints new ambassador to Kuwait

Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has appointed H.E. Yerzhan Yelekeyev as the new Ambassador to the State of Kuwait, according to a statement issued by the Kazakh presidential press service.

Yelekeyev brings a strong academic and professional background to the diplomatic post. He holds a degree in Management from the Kazakhstan-British Technical University and a Master’s in Financial Economics from the University of Glasgow.

His career began in 2007 as an analyst in the Investor Relations Department at JSC “Exploration and Production” of KazMunayGas. He later served as Deputy Head of the Analytical Group at the Center for Socio-Economic Reforms under the President from 2020 to 2021. In 2021, he joined JSC “Alfa-Bank Kazakhstan” as Director of the Project Office.

Most recently, Yelekeyev held the position of Managing Director for Asset Management and Project Work at JSC “National Managing Holding Baiterek” since November 2022. On March 7, 2024, he was appointed Chairman of the Board of JSC “NC Kazakh Invest”.

He succeeds Azamat Berdybay, who was relieved of his duties by presidential decree.
