KAPP signs deal to advance Al-Zour North Power Plant phases II & III

The Kuwait Authority for Partnership Projects (KAPP) has signed a commitment agreement to proceed with Phases II and III of the Al-Zour North Power Plant project.
This initiative will be executed in partnership with the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, alongside a consortium comprising ACWA Power and the Gulf Investment Corporation. The consortium will be responsible for the design, financing, construction, and operation of the facility.
Once completed, the project will boost Kuwait’s capacity by adding over 2,700 megawatts of electricity and more than 120 million imperial gallons per day of desalinated water.
KAPP highlighted that the project will reinforce the country’s energy and water infrastructure by utilizing advanced desalination and highly efficient power generation technologies. These efforts will ensure optimal use of natural resources while enhancing environmental sustainability.
As one of KAPP’s largest projects to date, this phase will double the production capacity achieved in the initial phase. It is supported by financing exceeding one billion Kuwaiti dinars from local and international banks, reflecting strong investor confidence in Kuwait’s investment and partnership environment.
