In a press statement, the ministry said the Aid Committee at the General Directorate of Execution convened a special meeting marking Ramadan and the national holidays to review the cases of individuals imprisoned over civil and financial obligations and to examine mechanisms for settling their debts, reports Al-Rai daily.
The ministry explained that the committee approved the payment of debts totaling 114,779 dinars (approximately #375,000), which led to the release of 39 detainees out of 72 cases reviewed during the meeting.
The initiative comes within ongoing efforts to support financially distressed individuals and promote social stability by helping families overcome the consequences of debt-related imprisonment.
