Justice Minister forms committees to clear appeals backlog at Cassation

Minister of Justice Nasser Al-Sumait said the Civil Service Commission has approved the request of the Ministry of Justice to establish ten judicial committees to address the growing backlog of appeals at the Court of Cassation, which now exceeds 81,000.

Al-Sumait stated that this step aligns with the ministry’s broader efforts to support the judiciary, improve efficiency of the legal system, and ensure the regular and timely administration of justice, reports Al-Jarida daily.

He emphasized that the initiative is in direct response to the vision of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, who has called for the development of judicial work and quick resolution of disputes to reinforce the foundations of justice in Kuwait.

Al-Sumait added that the new committees would significantly aid the Court of Cassation in managing the heavy caseload, maintaining consistency and stability within the judicial system.

He also reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to working in close coordination with relevant authorities to provide all necessary resources and support to enhance judicial performance.
