June 17 deadline for transformer station tender supporting Cloud Data Centers

The Central Agency for Public Tenders has announced Monday, June 17, as the deadline for submitting bids for a key infrastructure project involving the supply and installation of three main 132/11 kV electrical transformer stations. This initiative is part of Kuwait’s broader effort to establish Cloud Data Centers across multiple regions.
According to sources at the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, the tender plays a vital role in supporting the state’s strategy to expand its digital infrastructure and boost cloud computing capabilities.
The scope of the tender includes comprehensive work on the three stations, covering electrical supply systems and essential technical components, reports Al-Jarida daily.
The ministry emphasized that the project aligns with Kuwait’s national digital transformation agenda, aiming to develop a robust system for data storage and processing. This infrastructure will help meet the growing demands of artificial intelligence applications and enhance the delivery of government e-services.
Setting the June 17 deadline is intended to give specialized companies in the energy and electricity transmission sector ample time to participate in what is considered a critical and strategic national project. The successful execution of this tender is expected to significantly improve the efficiency and resilience of Kuwait’s digital ecosystem.
This transformer station initiative supports the larger project to build advanced cloud data centers in cooperation with Google Cloud. The initiative is central to Kuwait’s vision of promoting the digital economy and expanding its national data infrastructure.
As part of this strategic vision, the Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) previously signed a land lease agreement with Google to construct world-class cloud data centers in Kuwait.
The project aims to provide cutting-edge, secure cloud services and position the country as a leading regional hub for digital innovation and data management.
