Jordanian ‘beggar’, sponsor husband in police custody, face deportation

The Criminal Security Sector, of the Public Morals Protection and Combating Human Trafficking Department, in cooperation with the Public Security Sector, has arrested a Jordanian woman for begging for alms. She was taken in custody in the suburb of Al-Hajan.

The arrest was carried out by officers from the West Abdullah Al-Mubarak Police Station, who determined that the woman’s sponsor was her husband, also a Jordanian. Subsequent investigations led to his arrest as well, reports Al-Rai daily.

According to the Ministry of Interior, all necessary legal measures have been taken against the couple to deport them from the country.

The Ministry affirmed that action will be taken not only against the violator but also the sponsor, holding all responsible parties accountable.

The MOI stressed that security forces will continue their efforts to combat all forms of begging, describing it as an affront to society and a clear violation of the law.
