Joint command, staff course a crucial step in shaping future military leaders: Defense Minister

Defense Minister Sheikh Abdullah Al-Ali Al-Sabah affirmed that the Joint Command and Staff Course represents a vital milestone in qualifying and preparing commanding officers capable of assuming leadership roles and taking decisions across various military functions.

He urged graduates to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the course to real-world scenarios and to continuously work on developing their leadership abilities in service of the nation.

His remarks came during the graduation ceremony of the 29th Joint Command and Staff Course, held under his patronage today morning, reports Al-Rai daily.

In his address, Major General Pilot Fahad Al-Khurainj, Commander of the Mubarak Al-Abdullah Joint Command and Staff College, highlighted the institution’s evolution over nearly three decades.

He noted that the college’s strong academic reputation is a result of dedicated efforts by successive military leaders and instructors, who established advanced curricula and adopted modern training methodologies.

These efforts, he said, have helped produce leaders capable of understanding the complex operational and strategic environments they face today — particularly in light of rapid technological advances, accelerated information flow, and the growing role of artificial intelligence.

The ceremony included the distribution of certificates and awards to graduates, with special recognition for outstanding students.

Minister Al-Ali congratulated them for their excellence and expressed his pride in their achievement. He also welcomed the active participation of officers from the Ministry of Interior and the National Guard, along with officers from allied and friendly nations, noting that their involvement reflects the strength of Kuwait’s international military cooperation.

In his closing remarks, the Minister praised the efforts of the college’s leadership and faculty in modernizing its curricula and training approaches in line with the latest military and scientific developments.

He prayed for continued security, prosperity, and stability for Kuwait under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

The graduation ceremony was attended by a number of high-ranking officials, including Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Al-Sabah, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army Major General Pilot Sabah Al-Jaber, Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior Major General Ali Al-Adwani, and senior military leaders and attaches. The 29th course included 125 officers: 75 from the Kuwaiti Army, 4 from the Ministry of Interior, 10 from the National Guard, and 36 from the armed forces of allied and friendly nations.
