‘Jahra Waterfront Project’ approved by Municipal Council, ushering a new era for the region
The Municipal Council in principal approved in its regular session on Monday, the allocation of the extended site between the borders of the western Doha Station from the east, and the borders of the Jahra Nature Reserve from the west, which has an area of about 5.8 million square meters.
Moreover, it was also agreed upon to present it to the private sector in accordance with the laws and procedures followed in this regard to develop and invest in the waterfront project in Jahra “Corniche”.
The Council stipulated compliance and adherence to the requirements of the ministries of services, coordinate with them before implementation, and authorize the competent department to amend the dimensions, shape or area of the site in case it conflicts with existing infrastructure services or for any regulatory reasons.
Similarly, it was also stipulated to work with the laws and requirements of the General Environment Authority, and that the Authority should be reviewed before and during the implementation phase.
To obtain environmental approval, adhere to the traffic study approved by the General Directorate of Traffic.
The Council decided to approve the adoption of the detailed general plan of the project, and the adoption of the components, uses, construction areas and rental areas for the waterfront project in Jahra “Corniche”, which is divided into three areas, A and B.
According to the final reports submitted by the consultant, it provided information about what was received according to the components of the project is adhered to.
On a significant development, The Municipal Council agreed to add an area equivalent to 15,000 square meters.
This will be sufficient to accommodate the future needs for simple activities such as; activities for mobile cars, activities for exhibitions, events and service machines with a variety of material return, which are exploited after obtaining a license from the Kuwait Municipality.
The required space will be used in green spaces, corridors, open areas, parking and others.
