‘Italy in Jazz Music’ initiative takes center stage at AUK with Quintetto Denner

In a captivating evening that blended refined art with cultural elegance, the American University of Kuwait (AUK) hosted a special musical performance by the renowned Italian ensemble Quintetto Denner. The concert drew a large audience, including music lovers, ambassadors, diplomats, and prominent cultural personalities.

The event was part of the ‘Italy in Jazz Music’ initiative, aimed at fostering cultural exchange between Kuwait and Italy through art and music.

Italian Ambassador to Kuwait, HE Lorenzo Morini, praised the audience’s engagement and the emotional impact of the performance. “Every piece played by the ensemble touched the hearts of those present,” he said, noting the group’s rendition of the beloved Kuwaiti song ‘Aashat Lana Al-Kuwait’ as particularly moving. “It was a heartfelt gesture that reflected the mutual respect and affection between our two peoples.”

Ambassador Morini emphasized the importance of cultural ties in bringing nations closer together, stating, “Culture is a vital bridge between societies, helping to promote understanding and dialogue. We’re delighted by tonight’s turnout and look forward to more cultural collaboration through music, arts, and joint programs that reflect the deep friendship between Italy and Kuwait.”

Quintetto Denner is known for its distinctive style of “chamber jazz”—a fusion of classical and jazz elements. The group has performed on major stages and at festivals worldwide, spanning Europe, Australia, North America, and China.

The concert was part of the broader “Italian Harmonies” project, which explores the richness of Italy’s musical heritage by blending classical and contemporary compositions. With custom arrangements tailored to the ensemble’s unique instrumentation, the initiative offers an innovative artistic vision that bridges Italy’s past and present, showcasing the country’s cultural diversity and creativity.
