Israel strikes six Iranian military airports, targets missile sites and aircraft

The Israeli military has confirmed that it carried out a series of coordinated airstrikes on six Iranian military airports, including those in Tehran (Mehrabad), Mashhad, and Dezful, as part of a broader campaign to degrade Iran’s aerial and missile capabilities amid intensifying regional hostilities.

According to a statement posted in Hebrew on the Israel Defense Forces’ (IDF) official X account, the strikes damaged runways, underground bunkers, and destroyed a range of Iranian military aircraft and helicopters, including F-14 and F-5 fighter jets and AH-1 helicopters. A refueling aircraft was also reportedly hit. The IDF said the objective was to disrupt the Iranian Air Force’s ability to launch aircraft from these bases, news agencies reports.

In a separate strike, over 15 Israeli fighter jets targeted ballistic missile storage and launch sites in Iran’s Kermanshah region. The IDF said these sites were preparing missiles aimed at Israeli territory, claiming several of the facilities were destroyed in the attack.

Meanwhile, the IDF acknowledged that one of its drones was shot down over Khorramabad in western Iran during operations. Iranian media identified the downed UAV as a Hermes model, though the IDF stated there were no concerns regarding data breaches.

In another development, Iran’s Tasnim news agency reported that at least 10 members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were killed in Israeli strikes on Yazd province, with additional personnel wounded.

The attacks form part of an ongoing Israeli offensive that began with a surprise strike on June 13. According to Israeli sources, the campaign has resulted in the deaths of more than two dozen Iranian military commanders and nuclear scientists, signaling a sharp escalation in the conflict between the two regional adversaries.
