Ali Larijani calls for unity After Khamenei’s death, says transitional council to assume power; vows no tolerance for division
Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran Ali Larijani, warned against any attempts to create divisions in the country following the killing of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in the US-Israeli attack.
Speaking in an interview broadcast on state television, Larijani called on Iranians to remain united, stating, “Groups that seek to divide Iran should know that we will not allow it.”
He explained that the transitional phase begins today, Sunday, with the formation of a temporary leadership council, reports Al-Rai daily.
This council will include the president, the head of the judiciary, and a jurist from the Guardian Council, who will assume responsibility until the next Supreme Leader is elected.
Larijani added, “This council will be formed as soon as possible; preparations have already begun today.” The statement underscores Tehran’s intent to maintain stability and control amid escalating tensions in the region.
