Invasion anniversary a symbol of unity, sacrifice, and gratitude to allies

Kuwait’s sons stood against the invasion with nothing but determination and courage: Al-Yahya

Foreign Minister, Abdullah Al-Yahya, said today that the anniversary of the brutal Iraqi invasion on August 2, 1990, stands as a defining historical moment — one that captures the steadfastness, unity, and deep loyalty of the Kuwaiti people to the sacrifices of their martyrs, prisoners, and missing loved ones.

Speaking to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on the eve of the 35th anniversary of the invasion, Al-Yahya emphasized that this occasion renews Kuwait’s pride in the solidarity shown by its regional and international allies, who came to the defense of justice and legitimacy.

He said that the support of the international coalition, which helped restore Kuwaiti sovereignty, will always be remembered with gratitude by both the Kuwaiti leadership and its people.

Al-Yahya added that commemorating this painful chapter in Kuwait’s history serves as a reminder and a motivation to continue advancing peace and security in the region and globally.

He reaffirmed Kuwait’s commitment to diplomacy, peaceful conflict resolution, and unwavering adherence to the principles of international law and the UN Charter.

He concluded by honoring the bravery and sacrifices of Kuwait’s sons who stood against the invasion with nothing but determination and courage, offering condolences for the martyrs and expressing ongoing solidarity with the families of prisoners and the missing.
