International Women’s Group celebrates the National Day of the State of Kuwait

On 8 February, the International Women’s Group (IWG) hosted an exceptional and memorable celebration dedicated to the National Day of the State of Kuwait at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, bringing together members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of international organizations, ambassadors, and distinguished guests. The event was honored to have as the keynote speaker and guest of honor Sheikha Dr. AlanoudEbraheem Duaij Al-Sabah.

As customary, the event commenced with an introduction by the IWG Public Relations Coordinator, Mrs. Layla Boulos. The ceremony then officially opened with the National Anthem of Kuwait, performed by the Brass Band of the Ministry of Defense. Guests were welcomed by Mrs. Marika Kochlamazashvili, spouse of the Ambassador of Georgia and President of the International Women’s Group, who congratulated His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah, the people of Kuwait, and all Kuwaiti friends on the 65th anniversary of independence and the 35th anniversary of liberation.

During the event, members of the organization also listened to a congratulatory message sent by the Honorary President of IWG, Sheikha Hanouf Bader Al Mohammed Al Sabah. In a congratulatory message, Sheikha Hanouf highlighted the significance of Kuwait’s National and Liberation Days as symbols of the nation’s unity, resilience, and proud heritage. She emphasized the vital role of Kuwaiti women in preserving traditions while contributing to leadership, education, diplomacy, and community development.

Her Excellency also underscored Kuwait’s commitment to peace, humanitarian values, and international cooperation, reaffirming hopes for the country’s continued prosperity under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir and His Highness the Crown Prince, and extended her best wishes to the people of Kuwait on these national occasions.

In her remarks, Mrs. Kochlamazashvili expressed appreciation to the Honorary President of IWG, Sheikha Hanouf, also thanking Sheikha Dr. Alanoud Al-Sabah, for her invaluable contribution and guidance in shaping the program of the event. The cultural program, themed “Women of Kuwait: Tradition and Inspiration,” offered guests an immersive journey into Kuwait’s rich heritage through music, cuisine, and traditional fragrances.

Sheikha Dr. Alanoud Al-Sabah delivered an engaging presentation highlighting Kuwait’s urban, desert, and coastal traditions, and prepared a traditional fragrance on-site, a skill she inherited from her grandmothers, showcasing the enduring legacy of Kuwaiti customs.

Complementing this, Ms. Yasmeen AlSalem introduced guests to the flavors and techniques of authentic Kuwaiti cuisine, celebrating the nation’s culinary heritage. The celebration featured vibrant live performances and cultural displays presented with the participation of the Kuwait Culture and Heritage Center, Expo 965, and Kuwait Sadu House, highlighting traditional crafts, Sadu weaving, historical books, traditional attire for men and women, jewellery, and heritage artifacts.

The guests were welcomed with the traditional Bakhoor hospitality ritual, enjoyed performances by Arda dancers, and listened to musical performances, including singer Mona Mansour. Calligraphers Jasser Al-Shammari and Abdul Aziz Ziad added a personal cultural touch by writing guests’ names in Arabic calligraphy during the program.

Ladies had the opportunity to take pictures with falcons under the supervision of the specialized falconer Mohammed Hussein Ali Khashish.

The International Women’s Group extends its sincere appreciation to all partners, sponsors, and board members whose dedication and efforts contributed to the success of this remarkable celebration, strengthening cultural understanding and honoring the heritage and traditions of the State of Kuwait.
