Interior Ministry reviews full security readiness for Kuwait’s National Day celebrations

Al-Wahib chairs high-level meeting to finalize security plans for national holidays; enhanced vigilance ordered as Kuwait prepares for National and Liberation Day festivities

As part of preparations for Kuwait’s 2026 national holidays, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Major General Abdul Wahab Al Wahib, chaired a security meeting on Monday, February 23, bringing together heads of relevant security sectors to review the final arrangements for securing National Day and Liberation Day celebrations.

At the start of the meeting, Al-Wahib welcomed attendees and conveyed the greetings and appreciation of the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahd Al Yousef. He stressed the importance of continued coordination and unified efforts among all security bodies to ensure the celebrations reflect the civilized image and standing of the State of Kuwait.

During the session, officials reviewed approved precautionary security plans, readiness levels, and coordination mechanisms among participating entities. Al-Wahib instructed all sectors to operate as one team and intensify efforts to maintain security and safety coverage, while urging field presence by security leaders to closely monitor implementation, reports Al-Rai daily.

He emphasized the need for full preparedness and constant vigilance by security personnel, alongside firm enforcement of the law to preserve public order. He also called for addressing negative practices sometimes associated with celebrations, particularly water spraying, traffic obstruction, and placing oversized flags on vehicles that hinder visibility — actions considered dangerous and punishable violations.

At the same time, he highlighted the importance of respectful public engagement and providing assistance to all citizens and residents, especially elderly individuals and people with special needs.

Concluding the meeting, Al-Wahib noted that National Day and Liberation Day celebrations embody the nation’s pride in its history and achievements, urging everyone to celebrate responsibly in a manner that reflects Kuwaiti values and a strong sense of civic responsibility.
