Interior Ministry refutes claims of social media surveillance and call recording

The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior has officially denied claims that it is conducting surveillance on social media platforms and recording phone calls.

• However, the Ministry has acknowledged that there is general monitoring of online content.

• The Ministry’s spokesperson, Colonel Othman Al-Ghraib, clarified that the rumors about specific surveillance are unfounded and harmful to society.

The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior has issued a strong denial of recent rumors circulating on social media platforms.

These allegations claimed that the government was engaged in surveillance of social media activities and recording personal phone calls, reports Al-Jarida newspaper.

Colonel Othman Al-Ghraib, the head of the Press Department at the General Department of Public Relations and Security Media, clarified the ministry’s stance in a statement released on Wednesday.

While acknowledging that the ministry does conduct general monitoring of online content, Al-Ghraib emphasized that the specific claims of surveillance are entirely unfounded. He expressed concern about the potential negative impact of such rumors on society.
