Interior Ministry, KFAS sign protocol to integrate scientific research into security training

The Ministry of Interior has signed a cooperation protocol with the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) as part of its efforts to modernize security education and training and expand the use of scientific research in supporting security work.

The agreement was signed on Wednesday at the Nawaf Al-Ahmad Building in the Subhan area by the Ministry’s Education and Training Affairs Sector, reflecting an institutional approach to integrating security operations with the national research system.

The signing ceremony was attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Major General Abdul Wahab Al-Wahib, Head of the Education and Training Affairs Sector Brigadier Ali Al-Wahib, and several senior security officials. KFAS was represented by its Deputy Director General for Scientific Programs, Dr Fahd Al-Fadhli, along with a number of foundation officials.

In a statement, the ministry said the protocol represents a strategic step toward developing security education and training by employing applied scientific research to identify contemporary security challenges, develop innovative solutions based on scientific methodology, and support security decision-making with solid knowledge foundations.

The cooperation also aims to transform security education and training institutions into knowledge-producing environments that go beyond skills transfer to include the preparation of specialized studies and research. This approach seeks to enhance analytical and research capabilities among security personnel, improving their professional readiness and ability to respond to rapid changes.

The protocol focuses on building research and training capacities through the development of academic programs, qualification of researchers, encouragement of innovation, and linking research outcomes to the practical needs of the security sector. This is intended to ensure effective integration between theoretical knowledge and field application.

The ministry noted that the partnership reflects a shared belief in investing in human capital as the cornerstone of development, through quality education, sustainable training and targeted scientific research that contributes to strengthening community security, supporting national development goals and advancing a knowledge-based economy.
