Interior minister highlights success in unmasking fraudulent nationalities

• Sheikh Fahd Al-Yusuf stated that anyone involved in forgery or holding dual nationality is subject to having their nationality revoked, emphasizing that the law applies to everyone without distinction.

Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef, the First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Minister of Interior, emphasized that “the rule of law will apply to everyone involved in the cases of nationality withdrawal for forgers and those with double citizenship, with no exceptions.”

Sheikh Fahd Al-Yusuf stated in a special interview with Al-Qabas newspaper that anyone involved in forgery or holding dual nationality is subject to having their nationality revoked, emphasizing that the law applies to everyone without distinction.

He stressed that Kuwaiti nationality will be withdrawn from anyone proven to be involved in forgery, fraud, duplicity, or obtaining nationality unjustly, as well as from those subject to other obligations for nationality withdrawal “according to the law.”

He added that the Supreme Committee for Achieving Kuwaiti Nationality is working on this matter with precision, impartiality, and credibility, and it does not tolerate violations of the law.

In response to Al-Qabas’s question about the effectiveness of biometric fingerprinting in detecting dual nationals, counterfeiters, and others, the minister highlighted that “biometric fingerprinting has contributed to uncovering many cases, and one of its primary purposes is to help identify forgers and individuals with dual nationality.”

Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef addressed the new traffic law, emphasizing that its purpose is to deter reckless driving and reduce traffic accidents that result in many fatalities due to mobile phone use, inattention, and recklessness. He noted that the new traffic law will take effect three months after his decree is issued.

Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef stressed that security personnel will be held accountable for any violations of the traffic law while on patrol. The law applies to everyone, and it is crucial for the Interior Ministry’s personnel to adhere to the laws, as they are responsible for enforcing them and serving as role models for others in discipline and commitment.

Regarding the labor market and residency violations, Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef highlighted that security campaigns have significantly reduced the number of marginal workers and offenders, decreasing from 80,000 to 90,000 violators. He also mentioned that a monthly report will be issued on the number of violators and those deported to their home countries.

Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef stated that the phenomenon of fictitious accounts that spread rumors and incite sedition has significantly reduced in the country following the identification of those who manage them. Efforts are underway to uncover and deter such activities, and to hold those responsible accountable.

Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef reiterated the ongoing commitment to developing the security system with modern and advanced technologies. These efforts have culminated in the implementation of biometric fingerprinting, smart cameras, and other innovations. “We will continue to adopt all measures that enhance the security system in the country, in addition to developing modern mechanisms to strengthen cybersecurity.”
