Integrated planning underway ahead to secure electricity and water for major housing projects

The Public Authority for Housing Welfare has intensified coordination with the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy to secure electricity and water requirements for major future housing projects, reflecting advanced planning and readiness for the implementation of fully integrated residential cities.

In a statement, the Authority said it has provided the Ministry with comprehensive data on the locations and coordinates of housing projects, along with detailed timelines for implementation phases.

This information, according to Al-Rai daily, enables technical teams to assess future electrical loads and water demand in advance, in line with precise technical and planning standards.

The Authority explained that initial estimates of electricity and water requirements were prepared based on currently available data as part of a proactive planning approach and will be updated following detailed technical studies.

This process aims to ensure compatibility between housing projects and existing networks, as well as planned future expansions.

According to preliminary estimates, total projected electrical loads for the planned residential cities amount to approximately 16,300 megawatts, while total water demand is estimated at about 16,697 liters per second, equivalent to nearly 317 million gallons.

The projects include the Al-Khairan residential development, with an estimated electrical load of around 6,000 megawatts and freshwater requirements of approximately 5,857 liters per second, equivalent to 111 million gallons.

The Nawaf Al-Ahmad residential city is expected to require about 5,500 megawatts of electricity and 5,420 liters per second of water, equivalent to 103 million gallons. Meanwhile, the Al-Sabriya city project is projected to require 4,800 megawatts of electricity, with water demand comparable to that of Nawaf Al-Ahmad.

The Housing Authority praised the high level of cooperation with the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, stressing that early coordination plays a vital role in accelerating project implementation and ensuring infrastructure readiness alongside housing development.

These projects form part of the state’s broader efforts to meet growing housing demand and keep pace with urban expansion, with a focus on developing modern residential areas that adhere to sustainability standards, promote efficient resource use, and provide an integrated living environment for citizens.

The Authority reaffirmed its commitment to continued coordination with the Ministry and its readiness to meet any additional technical requirements to support shared objectives in developing a sustainable and efficient housing system.
